There is a designated season and time for every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Here we are, three quarters of the way through the year. The summer holidays are over and the children are starting the next school year. The routines which went to pot due to the long summer break are being re-established and we still have light, mild weather.
It is a time for a reset. A time to restart. A time of a natural psychological clean slate. A time to evaluate and restart goals made in January. A second chance for those New Year resolutions. A time for change.
All of this makes September a popular month to move, to change jobs, to make those lifestyle changes, take up a new hobby or even just get those jobs we keep putting off ticked off the to-do list. It is a month full of weddings, new life, new beginnings and renewal.
It is a time of letting go of things we are holding onto. A time of accepting that it is time to move on. It is a time to accept differences and that change is necessary – both change to how things are or are done but also change in ourselves.
How apt it is that this month of September is the one in which we get to Welcome, Licence and Install our new Priest-in-Charge of West Sheppey and Eastchurch with Leysdown and Harty. An exciting time of newness and change with exciting times ahead.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
